First time out of the wash the blue was mostly gone; I tossed it back in and added some Oxy-Clean. Second time out of the wash and the blue was completely gone. In facet most blue inks are designed to be washable which implies they’re also erasable. Blue ink, specifically Royal Blue for Pelikan, was the color ink used in schools to teach kids how to write with a fountain pen. Can’t have kids with permanent ink on their clothes, rugs, desks, etc, so that’s why we have washable blue fountain pen inks for over a century. Blue ink cartridges are also erasable, as are straight “blue” inks from other vendors. Variation on blue, such as blue-black, or dark blue, need not be washable. But if the ink is described as “royal blue” or “blue,” it is most likely washable/erasable. I’ve been collecting FPs for about a year, and this was news to me.For the same ink performance, but without the washability, any other color of the 4001 ink line will work.
