My second order, and there will be a third (read my previous review). If you are an engineer like me, I strongly suggest you look up the dozen or so patents Magguts uses in their products (most of their products, especially the double-stacked extensions, use far more patents than are listed on the packaging) – truly impressive, and insanely innovative. The amount of patents, and patents-pending, used in every single unique design aspect of their products will astonish you. In “Google Patents” look up one of his patent numbers listed on the packaging, then just click on the inventor’s name. You will then see the true amount of patents used for Magguts, and the crazy amount time effort that must have went into making every one of their products 100% reliable (not to mention ground-breaking). When these patents ultimately expire (which admittedly could be a while, since improvement patents and other means of patent-extension exist), I truly hope this technology becomes the standard (sorry Magguts). For right now though, I am shocked that Gun manufacturers arent beating down Magguts’ doors to license the technology from them – because, as we all know, capacity is king in the current concealed-carry market. This is especially true in the relatively new double-stacked Micro 9’s (check out his patents that make the double-stack Magguts work, its awesome). Imagine if Glock, Sig, S&W, etc included this increased capacity standard, or even as a performance option… they would kick the competition’s rear in terms of magazine capacity. After reviewing the patented tech, its clear that if the Manufacturers worked hand-in-hand with Magguts to engineer their mag-bodies to work specifically with Maggut’s technology from the get go, they could achieve 3 without adding really nearly any significant mag height. Right now the flat-spring has to taper in width as it gets taller, and Magguts has to use a custom base-plate on the doublestacks (that’s for multiple reasons that you can look into – but heck, even the tab of the spring that folds around the back of mag body to lock-in the baseplate is patented tech… so much more could be done if the mag body itself was designed to work with Magguts’ tech). Anyways I am geeking out on the potential. Back to my purchase, yet again my 2nd purchase of the Shield Plus 3 is 100% reliable. Also, the 13rd Magguts-created Magazine has a stronger spring than the OEM 13rd mags (especially noticeable when Mag is low/empty) – thus Magguts-modded mags are far more reliable since the greater spring force helps when the bullets are pushed up nto position for feeding, reducing the chance of feed problems (especially when the slide short-strokes at all, in such cases you need as a strong a spring as you can get to lift the round into position before the slide begins its foward-travel). And despite this, loading the 13th round (if you assembled everything correctly) is no challenge at all. I am 100% convinced this is the future of handgun magazine technology – in which every single additonal round of capacity is vital. Great work Magguts.
