I’m no stranger to chillers. This is the 3rd one that I own, and I use them often.For the record, I didn’t get this chiller for aquariums, but I can assure you that it would work fantastically for this purpose. No, there are 2 reasons I got this chiller.1, to use with my ice bath tub. Putting ice in those things is the worst. My ice bath tub has ports to use with a chiller, so that’s what I use. If you want things particularly chilly, you can hook 2 chillers in series to double your chilling power.2, to use with my various distillation apparatuses. As an amateur chemist, I often use distillers for things like…well, distilling water. Usually, you have to hook a faucet adapter to your faucet and run a line to your distiller which runs constantly and also needs an exit tube to run water down the drain. It’s NOT efficient, and performs…well, adequately. With this chiller, all I need is a pan of water with a few gallons of water in it, and I constantly recirc the water through the chiller, through the distiller, back into the pan, and then back to the chiller. You’ll never waste water that way, and your distiller will run better than you can imagine with ~42f water flowing through it.Between my other 2 chillers that I own, this one is the best out of all of them, and I mean hands down. There is no comparison. The case it’s made of is decent-gauge steel and all the panels fit perfectly. It looks like it was built by someone that cares about what they’re making. It has pop-open side panels on either side so you can open it up and clean your condenser if it starts to get a little dusty. Being able to maintain something like this, and not just maintain it, but do so EASILY, is a big, big plus. With fans moving inside, it will get dusty eventually, and it’s just fantastic engineering to build it with that understanding in mind. Good job, Poafamx.Even the accessories are top notch, from the included tubing to the anti-kink tubing holder, which I’ll actually USE, because you don’t want kinked tubing running to your distiller. I actually go to great lengths to keep my tubing kink-free, and I love that something for that is included with this. None of my other chillers included this accessory, it’s nice when they give you something actually USEFUL.And speaking of useful, the pump they included with this chiller, once again, the BEST out of my other chillers. I mean that, usually the pump they give you to use with these chillers is an afterthought and barely adequate. Not with the Poafamx, even the PUMP is a top-notch pump.There is nothing at all to complain about with this chiller. It works GREAT. It’s built like an absolute tank, but one you can actually service! And every accessory included with it, from the tubing to the pump, is absolute top shelf.I have to say, I recommend this chiller 100% completely, and I don’t care what you’re doing with it, cooling an aquarium, running a distiller, chilling out in an ice bath tub, this is the best I’ve used.
